About Us

Dissonance Magazine is an online literary zine run by, edited by, written by and illustrated by University of Kent Students.

The aim of the magazine is to unite students across subjects in order to explore a plethora of exciting and boundary breaking ideas taking place at the university. We want to explore what it means to be a student in the 21st century while simultaneously encouraging a wide range of artistic expressions.

In a political atmosphere where large sums of our futures remain uncertain, we want to provide our generation with a platform through which they can voice they’re concerns through a multitude of mediums. Which is why we accept anything from poetry to short stories, essays to articles, and photography to illustrations.

We are here to help you get your work out into the world, with the help of the wonderful Kent Opportunity Fund who have gracefully agreed to fund us.
